The district education officer (Primary/Secondary) has the authority to reduce the long summer and Diwali vacation from schools, and instead give it on the occasion of festivals like Ganeshotsav or Christmas. As per the Secondary School Code, care should be taken that the total number of vacations in the academic year should not exceed 76 days. All educational institutes are currently closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hence a decision regarding the commencement of schools in the academic year 2021-22, will be taken by the government at an appropriate time.
