The black vehicle drove through the group of activists in Cedar Rapids despite them screaming at it to stop and hammering the hood and window (left, on Friday night). One person appeared to get caught in front of it and narrowly avoided being run over before the driver sped off during the shocking exchange. Another had her foot run over and was left howling in pain. And a third was flung to the floor as he drove away, suffering bruises and scrapes. It comes as tens of thousands descended on streets across the US amid mixed reactions at the Supreme Court tearing up Roe v Wade and handing the rights to abortions back to states after nearly 50 years. Furious pro-choice demonstrators took to the streets in cities including Washington DC (inset, a US flag being burned), Phoenix (bottom right, cops tear-gassing protesters as they break into the State Senate building), New York City and LA (top right).

U.S. Senators Susan Collins (left) and Joe Manchin (right) had voted to confirm the justices despite fears that they would overturn Roe V. Wade, with the senators saying at the time that they trusted Brett Kavanaugh (top inset) and Neil Gorsuch (bottom inset) to uphold the law. Now Collins, a Republican, and Manchin, a Democrat, are accusing the justices of misleading them as they criticized the court's 6-3 ruling to end women's federal right to an abortion. 'This decision is inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said in their testimony and their meetings with me, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon,' Collins said in a statement. Manchin echoed the outrage, saying: 'I trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was settled legal precedent and I am alarmed they chose to reject the stability the ruling has provided for two generations of Americans.'

GoFundMe for underappreciated Burger King worker, 60, who was given a movie ticket, candy and pens to reward him for 27 years of service without missing a day off hits almost $80,000 after David Spade donated $5,000

A GoFundMe for a Burger King employee nears $80,000 after a viral video showed him being gifted a movie ticket, candy, a coffee tumbler, and some pens for 27 years of service. Kevin Ford started working at the company as a single father to gain custody of his first two children, his daughter Seryna said on the GoFundMe account. As his family grew, he stayed at the job and 'continued to work here because of the amazing health insurance.' 'My dad continues to work here, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. 'In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.' The outpouring of support astonished the family, with the fundraising now nearing $80,000 in just three days. 'I'm here tying to get through dinner without crying! You are such remarkable people,' Seryna wrote in the latest update. 'I seriously can't believe this. Y'all are changing his life!' One of the many donors includes celebrity comedian David Spade, who donated $5,000 and had a private Instagram exchange with the BK worker.

Brian Laundrie (left, pictured with Gabby Petito) writes that he strangled his 22-year-old fiancé as the result of an 'unexpected tragedy' in Grand Teton National Park in which Petito fell into a creek and injured herself on their road trip last summer. And he began the notebook with a personal message addressed to Gabby, in which he claimed: 'I wish I could be at your side, I wish I could be talking to you right now.' In self-pitying sentences written in smudged blue pen, Laundrie claims he battled to comfort Gabby who was deteriorating, crying in pain and shivering from constant cold. But eventually he killed her, writing: 'I don't know the extent of Gabby's injuries, only that she was in extreme pain. He wrote (right): 'I ended her life. I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistake that I made. I panicked. I was in shock. But from the moment I decided, took away her pain.'
