Abhijeet Dipke Urges Sonam Wangchuk to End Fast
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke appealed to social activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his indefinite hunger strike, which entered its 25th day on Wednesday. Dipke assured supporters that the protest would continue with full strength even if Wangchuk decides to stop fasting.
Wangchuk has become one of the most recognised faces of the movement, with many students and citizens expressing concern about his health. Despite the appeal, the protest leadership has made it clear that the campaign will continue until meaningful action is taken.
Delhi High Court Seeks Government’s Response
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked both the Central Government and Delhi Police to respond to petitions alleging excessive use of force during the CJP-led march to Parliament on July 20.
The Court also directed Delhi Police to preserve all evidence related to the incident, including CCTV footage, videos, and other records, according to existing standard operating procedures. The petitions argue that peaceful protesters were subjected to unnecessary force during the demonstration.
FIRs Registered After Parliament March
Delhi Police have registered a total of 10 FIRs across five police stations in connection with the Parliament march. Investigations are currently underway, and authorities are examining the incidents that took place during the protest.
At the same time, the Supreme Court declined an urgent request to immediately hear a petition challenging the police action against students during the march.
Government and Opposition Exchange Strong Statements
The political debate over the protests also intensified.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused Opposition parties of using young people for political purposes. He said that some political leaders were creating a “manufactured sense of anger” instead of allowing students to focus on their future.
Meanwhile, Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh visited Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where he is receiving treatment following directions from the Delhi High Court. According to sources, the ministers requested Wangchuk to encourage students to remain calm and assured him that the government is willing to discuss the issue in Parliament.
Government Ready for NEET Discussion
In a significant development, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed the Lok Sabha that the government is prepared to hold a discussion on the alleged NEET paper leak issue.
This announcement is being seen as an attempt to address growing concerns raised by students, opposition parties, and protest groups. However, CJP leaders have maintained that they will continue their protest until they see concrete action on their key demands.
